Praise for Until Darkness Comes

4.0 out of 5 stars City of Angels September 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This was a really cool take on Angels! Angel books have been done to death it seems, but this one was fresh and felt like a completely different angle! I really loved the conflict between the two angels Max and Liam. They were both such well written characters. I was surprised the book got a little more saucy than most YA books I have read. The scenes between Max and his “Conquests” pushed the limits and I thought that was done wonderfully. The relationship between Olivia and Liam tugged at my heartstrings every time I turned around and I found myself conflicted about his choices. The supporting characters got to have a little bit of story told from their POV’s that kept the story flowing naturally and not stuck in one characters POV. Overall I was happy with how it ended and then you get left with a major epilogue! Now I can’t wait for the next book!

I honestly loved this book! The writing was excellent, the plot was insanely interesting, and the characters were well defined.
Everything happens really fast in a way because there is one thing happening right after the next, which is a slight problem at the end because by the time you get to the actual climax of the book, it’s not quite as exciting since the whole book has been extremely exciting. However, in a way it can feel slow because all of this stuff is happening over a really short period of time, there is a lot of detail (good in a way), but all the excitement of things happening makes it feel like a real drag in those little moments when there isn’t much of anything happening.
You go into it knowing some really bad stuff is going to happen since all of Hell wants Olivia dead, so for that first part you want to slap Olivia for not seeing how evil Max really is (not that it’s her fault since he’s manipulating her, after all). Olivia is still an awesome protagonist. She’s not stupid and she figures things out for herself in time. She’s totally relate-able most of the time (a few moments I was like, why on earth would she do that??).
Liam is the perfect hero (he is an angel after all!), and I adore the connection and consequences of Liam and Olivia’s (and later Ashley and Balen’s) relationship. Why can’t I have my own Ronnin Warrior?? Max…ugh. You’re pretty much going to say “WHY WON’T YOU JUST DIE ALREADY?” time after time.
You really feel a range of emotions through every character and every scene. It’s so well thought out and beautifully described you feel like you’re in the moment with all of them. I was sooo sad when I reached the final page just because I know I’m going to have to wait for Shades of Darkness.
If you love the paranormal, deep-connection romances, a great good vs evil battle, or just a well written book, then you’re honestly going to fall right into this book and devour it.
4.0 out of 5 stars IMAGINATION PLUS,May 14, 2012
This review is from: Until Darkness Comes (Paperback)

To start with it should be stated that I am primarily a reader of non-ficiton which at times can be stranger than fiction and so normally do not go in for this genre which to me is romance/paranormal.
However, I do occasionaly take a break and trip to the supernatural/surreal world to delve into a work such as this. Once I adjusted my thinking to read this work as it was intended it proved to be a wise decision indeed. It is a work of pure imagination which demands that one put aside such mundane things as whether things could happen this or that way and if this or that character would really act or do the things as they transpire. That is not the point. The point is to enjoy the flow of events and enjoy the suspense created by someone who truly has the gift needed for such an effort.
I guess my main point here is that if I enjoyed this book so much given my penchant for reasoning above feeling and imagination then for those who are oriented in the other direction this fine work would be even better. For those of you who are lucky enough to possess a greater appreciation than I for the style and artistry of this book, it would undoubtedly be a 5 Star rating rather than my 4 Star rating which was only due to my personal penchant for the more mundane.

I was given this book as a gift. I am not familiar with this genre, but I was impressed with how the author Melynda Price was able to draw me into her story of good vs. evil, angels and demons, and the paranormal. Well-developed characters, good plot, excellent writing style. I would recommend this as a gift choice for anyone!

I was drawn right into this story from the beginning, and each turn of the page drew me in deeper. Melynda Price’s attention to detail and ability to paint such vivid pictures with her words is what brought this story to life – from descriptions of places and people, to the depths of emotions, to the realistic reactions by the characters. There wasn’t a point in this story where I didn’t feel something for each character – love, hate, disappointment, sorrow, hope, etc. A well-written debut novel and an amazing introduction to the Redemption series. A recommendation for anyone looking for a fresh take on the intricate balance that takes place between the natural and supernatural worlds!

This book is absolutely amazing, not only are the characters very compelling, but she also did a great job on the storyline! I wasn’t able to put this book down and set a personal record by reading it in just 2 days. This book is definitely worth reading, I can recommend it to anyone who likes Romance and Paranormal Stories. I’ve never been a big fan of both of those genres, but this book really got me into it. I was caught up in Olivia’s and Liam’s world(s) for days and sometimes I still find myself thinking about their story. This is the best book I’ve read in a long while and I hope more people are gonna realize what a fantastic author Melynda Price is!

“This book takes you between good, evil and an innocent girl. Olivia doesn’t know what hit her when Liam came to town. Now will she ever forget? Loved this book! Would recommend it to everyone I know!”

I love stories that wage good against evil, throw in some romance and suspense, a little lol humor, and you’ve got me hooked. The characters are compelling, and left me thinking about them for days after I finished the book. I can’t wait for the next one to be released. If you’re a fan of books like Twilight and Hush Hush, you’ll love this story too. Definitely, a must read!

Until Darkness Comes is an amazing read. The story grabbed me from the start, and pulled me in deeper and deeper as I read, to the point where I didn’t want to put the book down. The author has a talent for bringing her characters to life as she carries her readers through a compelling story of angels, demons, and the mortals caught between them. Her story has wit, suspense and romance– a perfect combination for me. I can’t wait to read more books written by this author.
